Deputy urges residents to report speeding; council clarifies road ownership and maintenance

Le Sueur County Deputy Daniel Tousley told the Heidelberg City Council on Oct. 6 that residents should report vehicles speeding through town to county dispatch at 507-357-4440 and provide timeframes and vehicle descriptions to help the Sheriff’s Office target patrols. "Call dispatch at 507-357-4440," Tousley said, noting that detailed reports — such as time ranges and descriptions — make it easier to correlate speeding with commuting patterns and schedule enforcement.
Council members also discussed complaints about recent road work on Willies Way, including disturbance of grassy areas adjacent to the roadway. The council apologized for any inconvenience and clarified that the City of Heidelberg owns 60 feet from the centerline on either side of the road; the council stated that residents may maintain the ditch area adjacent to their property if they wish.
The discussion was informational and no formal action or vote was taken on traffic enforcement or additional road work at the Oct. 6 meeting. Residents with specific incidents were advised to contact county dispatch as Tousley requested so the Sheriff’s Office can evaluate patrol needs.
