The Trimont City Council accepted a $1,400 donation from Trimont Area Women to buy and install a bench and concrete pad in Memorial Park and approved the proposed bench design 5-0. The council also approved spraying Anderson Park for insects before the community FunFest and approved $2,000 to FLASC for ballfield improvements.
Council approved hiring a dedicated sheriff officer for FunFest at a rate of $87.50 per hour; the motion to secure sheriff coverage passed 5-0. The consent agenda motions were mostly approved; one pair of consent items was approved 3-2 with Council Member Brian Krumwiede and Mayor Kevin Kuehl voting no.
During other business and community comments, residents raised concerns about nighttime activity at the park and about unanswered complaints to city staff. Council Member Brian Krumwiede also raised that a council member had been seen operating the city ToolCat; the city’s insurance clarification noted council members cannot drive city equipment except under the direction and control of a city employee with required training.
Why it matters: the decisions fund community amenities and set safety/operational coverage for a major summer event. Citizens used the meeting to register safety and service complaints for council attention.
Next steps: city staff will schedule FunFest staffing and spraying, coordinate bench installation with the donor, and follow up on citizen complaints.
