The Trimont City Council on Aug. 18 approved a conditional-use permit for a crematory at the local funeral home, voting 5-0 after the applicant said the facility meets emissions standards for all states.
Ean Sinn presented the application and described emissions testing and compliance. Council Member Justin Lubben moved to approve the permit and Council Member Ronald Shade seconded; the motion passed unanimously. Council members also asked staff to evaluate whether the city ordinance should be amended so the funeral home would not need to apply for a conditional-use permit each year.
The approval followed a presentation about emissions compliance; the council did not record objections or request additional environmental testing at the meeting. The council’s action creates a local land-use approval but did not change any state-level permitting requirements, which remain separate.
