Trimont council approves fees, financial moves and committee reorganizations

The Trimont City Council took several administrative and financial actions on Jan. 21, approving an signatures resolution, adopting the 2025 fee schedule, renewing a certificate of deposit, and moving state funds into an account earmarked for a new ambulance.
Council approved Resolution 2025-01 (agenda title: Authorization of signatures) and adopted the 2025 fee schedule, which includes a $40 increase for ALS ambulance runs from Mayo. The council also approved the creation of a new finance committee and asked each committee to draft roles and responsibilities.
On financial motions, the council authorized renewal of CD #8938 at Trimont Bank for 12 months at 4.1% interest. The clerk reported moving money received from the state into a 4M account earmarked for a new ambulance after final Zoll costs are settled; the council approved that transfer. Council also voted to direct auditor staff to present a budget-understanding session (estimated $500–$1,000) and approved sending the clerk to MMCI Clerk Academy.
During bill approvals the council authorized payment of standard monthly bills including a $65,509.52 State Aid repayment listed on the bills. A motion to accept Kuehl’s Electric for a wastewater-plant heater bid failed for lack of a second and the item was tabled amid a stated conflict-of-interest concern; council noted Minnesota statute requires unanimous resolution when an elected official is involved.
