Pine County board approves consent items including OJP grant amendment and MnDOT letters of support

The Pine County Board approved its consent agenda, which included multiple routine licensing and administrative items. The board granted a 3.2 On/Off Sale/Sundays/Wine with Strong Beer license for Banning RV Park (60545 Hwy. 23, Finlayson) and approved an exempt gambling permit for Pheasants Forever – East Central Spurs for an event at Doc’s Bar & Grill on June 27, 2026.
The board approved an amendment to the Victim Services Office of Justice Programs (OJP) grant for 2026 that extends the grant period through Dec. 31, 2026 and adds $17,500 in funding; the Board Chair and County Administrator were authorized to sign the amendment. The board also approved letters of support to the U.S. Department of Transportation/Federal Railroad Administration for MnDOT’s Hinckley Sub Crossing Safety Improvement Project and its applications to the FY2025-2026 Railroad Crossing Elimination Program and the Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements (CRISI) Program; the Board Chair was authorized to sign those letters.
Other consent actions included ratifying the retirement of Highway Survey Crew Chief Galen Kelash, effective May 29, 2026, and authorizing County Administrator Kelly Schroeder to attend the MACA Summer Technical Day in Duluth (July 24–25, 2026). The board approved the amended consent agenda by motion (motion by Commissioner Roger Nelson, second by Commissioner Steve Hallan), and the motion carried 5-0.
