Board of Finance approves $14,000 AARP grant appropriation and up to $10,000 Simsbury Farms repair

The Town of Simsbury Board of Finance approved several procedural and small capital items at its June 16 meeting.
The board unanimously approved a supplemental appropriation of $14,000 for the purchase of portable Mobi Mats under an AARP Community Challenge grant to improve accessibility at town fields and event sites. Diana Yeisley explained the mats will be owned by the town, deployed and removed for events, and have an estimated lifespan of about 25 years. The board approved carrying forward any unspent grant funds into fiscal 2027.
The board also approved a supplemental appropriation of up to $10,000 from the Simsbury Farms special revenue fund to replace a hot water heater in the Simsbury Farms Golf Clubhouse after Parks & Recreation Director Tom Tyburski said the existing unit had begun leaking and the correct replacement size cost under $10,000.
Members approved the May 19, 2026 regular meeting minutes. All motions recorded at the meeting passed unanimously by the five board members present.
