Planning commission approves renaming Morgan Lane to Promise Lane

The Morristown Regional Planning Commission voted unanimously on March 10 to approve STNM-3280, renaming Morgan Lane to Promise Lane. Senior Planner Josh Cole said the request, submitted by Jorge and Israel Guzman, affects a short road that currently leads to Monte Vista residential development and the Terra Bella Retirement Community but has no addresses assigned.
Cole told commissioners staff and the city’s emergency services have vetted the proposed name and recommended approval under the city’s Uniform Street Naming and Addressing ordinance (Title 16). Commissioner Ventrus Norfolk moved to approve the request; Commissioner Alpha Alexander seconded. The commission recorded a 9–0 voice vote in favor.
Cole added that the applicants are also pursuing formal dedication of the street as a public street through the City Council, and that no construction or addressing changes are needed at the moment because the retirement community and the Monte Vista development are addressed from other drives.
