The Reynolds City Council adopted a resolution formalizing a personnel policy handbook during its Dec. 15 meeting at the Train Depot, and directed staff to return with related policy details next month.
City Clerk Sissy McLaughlin read the resolution for the personnel policy handbook before Council member Hannah Sloan moved to adopt it, and Danny Peed seconded. “All voted in favor,” and the motion carried, according to the meeting record.
Council members also asked staff to provide more detailed policies tied to the handbook. Director Scott Jones was asked to present an emergency on-call overtime policy at the January meeting; Council member Hannah Sloan and Director Scott Jones were tasked with drafting an emergency repair policy for council review at the same meeting.
In a related personnel matter, Council approved renewing workers' compensation coverage with Allsouth Insurance after a motion by Sloan and a second from Peed; that motion also passed unanimously. The minutes do not specify the renewal term or premium amounts.
The action follows the council's earlier vote to add the handbook resolution to the agenda at the start of the meeting. Council members indicated the items will return in January for further policy detail and any ordinance or administrative implementation steps.
