Scott City Council approves bills, minutes and confirms new city collector hire

At its April 6 meeting the Scott City Council approved routine business and heard departmental updates.
Council Member Mike Rhymer moved to approve the March 16, 2026 minutes; Council Member Victor Phillips seconded, and the motion passed unanimously. Council Member Heather Ingvalson moved to approve bills totaling $52,560.21 to be paid on April 7, 2026; Council Member Gary Miller seconded and the council approved the payment with no opposition.
Mayor Rick Brashear announced that Michanda Robinson has been hired as the city collector and will work with long-time employee Tina Blattel until Blattel’s retirement. The mayor also reminded residents that the municipal election is April 7, 2026 at Restoration Church.
Departmental reports were filed: Police Chief Chris Griggs and Fire Chief Shawn Jackson submitted reports; Fire Chief Jackson noted H&R Alarms installed new network equipment and generators for dispatch. Vandevanter Engineering is reported to be working on the Lift Station project and staff are preparing the 2026–2027 budgets. Council Member Gary Miller raised a question about a structure on Scott Street; staff noted the property is owned by Scott Martin and lies outside city limits.
With no further business the council adjourned at 7:11 p.m. The next meeting was set for April 20, 2026.
