Chair Brian Lang said the board’s immediate capital priority for 2026 is repairing the concrete floor of the main pool and that the Environment and Recreation Committee recommended awarding the project bid to USA Construction LLC on May 5. The board discussed timing, oversight and next steps, and asked for a July update to confirm the contractor will begin work after the pool closes in early September.
The recommendation to award the contract was relayed to the board during the long-range planning discussion. Board members noted that Gilmore believes the work can be completed within a September–December schedule. The board did not vote to award the construction contract; the recommendation will be reviewed by Borough Council at its meeting that night.
Pool Manager Drew Sterner reported that Don Kelly has offered to serve as a daily consultant during the project; the board asked Drew to have Don prepare a proposal and placed a July agenda item to review that proposal and confirm project timing. The board also asked that potential ancillary work such as roof repairs be included in long-range planning discussions.
Why this matters: the main-pool floor repair is the board’s highest near-term capital project and will require the pool to be closed for construction. Board members emphasized the need for a firm start date and daily oversight to keep the project on schedule and within specifications.
Next steps: Borough Council will consider the Environment and Recreation Committee’s recommendation to award the bid to USA Construction LLC; the Pool Board will receive Don Kelly’s consultant proposal and will check in with Gilmore at the July meeting to confirm the project timeline.
