A town staff member told the Board the firm that has represented the town for the past year proposed increasing its monthly retainer to $6,000, up from $5,500.
"They have done a lot for the town over the past year, including red light cameras," the staff member said, and asked whether there were objections to updating the monthly fee to $6,000.
Several council members voiced support for the increase as reasonable compared with prior retainers and for the alerts and bill-tracking services the firm provides. The staff member said the firm is also helping with several ongoing matters including amended incorporation law work for Edgemont and other items.
Separately, council members pressed for an update on the town's red-light camera rollout and discussed the distinct possibility of speed cameras. One member proposed inviting the police chief and Assemblywoman MaryJane Shimsky to the next work session (by Zoom or in person) so staff can provide an update on red-light camera progress and to discuss speed-camera options at school zones.
The board agreed to add the camera updates to next week's work session agenda; staff will follow up with the police department and the Assemblywoman's office.
