Council reviews painting, flooring and tree‑removal bids; waterline relocation under way

Painting and flooring: Staff provided tabulated bids for painting the Robert Bridges and Hillman community centers (and associated pavilions). Three bidders responded; staff recommended the mid-priced local firm Ridgeway Painters on grounds of price and scheduling. A two-year workmanship warranty was discussed for some bids. For Robert Bridges flooring, vendors recommended a glue-down commercial luxury vinyl plank (LVP) for durability in high-traffic community use.
Waterline relocation: The selected contractor began work at Barber Creek to relocate water mains on both sides of Barber Creek and adjacent streets; staff are awaiting third-party engineer plans for Bethlehem Road to allow continuous contractor work.
Tree removal: Following a July visual evaluation by Georgia Forestry Commission arborist Lee Clark, staff compiled quotes for 18 trees (original report covered 14). Recommendations range from immediate removal (including one dead tree in an alley) to reinspection in 3–9 months for other trees; several trees adjacent to Jefferson Street were called out for root damage that has buckled pavement. Vendors who provided fall quotes confirmed they will honor their pricing.
No final contract awards were recorded on the transcript; staff said they will verify quotes and return with recommendations for award.
