The Bristol Town Council unanimously adopted an amendment to the town salary ordinance, Ordinance No. 8212025-17, on Aug. 21.
Councilmember Kathy Berg introduced the ordinance changes at the meeting, saying the amendment revises the town’s 10-year incentive payout by shortening the qualifying period from two years to one year and adds specialty pay for police certifications. “This contains changes to the 10-year incentive payout … changing language from two years to one year and then adding police department specialty pay for certifications,” Berg said.
Council voted first to waive the second reading and approve the ordinance on first reading, then voted to adopt Ordinance No. 8212025-17; both motions passed unanimously following motions and seconds recorded in the meeting minutes. The transcript records the formal motions and roll-call votes; the ordinance was passed during the Aug. 21 meeting and will take effect according to the town’s normal ordinance-adoption rules.
Council did not receive public comment on the ordinance during the meeting. Staff and council members did not record amendments to the text at the meeting; the change described by Berg is the key substantive change recorded on the record.
