The city attorney presented a working draft of revisions to the Statham City employee handbook, describing the document as a draft intended to streamline a 137‑page manual, reduce duplication and resolve internal inconsistencies.
The attorney said the revision effort involved department heads, members of the council and the mayor and that the goal is to have a final draft ready for adoption in December so the new handbook can take effect in 2026. "We would encourage you to read it, review it, digest it, ask v email specific questions," the attorney told council members and offered to answer questions at the December work session or offline as members review the draft over the holidays.
Council members were asked to flag specific changes or concerns so that the council can "hash out those kinds of things and get it into a final draft format for adoption at the December voting meeting." No formal action was taken at the Nov. 4 work session; council discussion and potential votes were deferred to the December meetings.
