Council members also reported that engineers will perform a traffic study to prioritize paving and to consider redesigning a crosswalk and adding a turning light at a busy intersection. Main Street lamp posts were replaced with LED fixtures under a contract with Georgia Power, and members discussed repainting the newly installed poles. Members mentioned exploring sound‑barrier options for heavily used fields and considering donated shipping containers as a low‑cost noise buffer and storage option.
In public comment, Carlen Anderson, who identified herself as president of a local high school PTSA, described an MLK Day of Service with about 40 volunteers and asked for help subsidizing student membership fees and grab‑and‑go breakfasts for an upcoming Georgia PTA Day at the Capitol. Council members pledged modest support on the record.
