Mayor honors Rotary Club of Oakenville; Public Works reports litter pickup and paving timeline

Mayor Skip Balaus presented a proclamation on July 10 recognizing the Rotary Club of Oakenville for more than a century of service and local projects that include literacy initiatives, coat drives, "Operation Fill the Bus" and support for the library.
"Thank you, Rotary, for all you do to make our community a better place to live and work," Mayor Skip Balaus said as he presented the proclamation. Ray Lane, identified as the Rotary's president, accepted the recognition and described volunteer efforts in Loganville, noting the club often works with county and city partners and community volunteers.
Patty Wolf, reporting for Public Works, provided the department's monthly figures: "Total litter pickup 95 pounds," she reported, and added that crews recorded 655 total stops and collected 32 total tons of material. Council members also noted that paving bids, advertised in early June, are expected to be submitted by July 15 so staff can make selections.
Council members encouraged attendance at Grooving on the Green on July 18, when the Platinum Band will perform. The mayor and others thanked Rotary volunteers for their continuing community work.
