The Royston City Council voted unanimously on March 11 to approve three purchases that exceeded the City Manager’s purchasing authority: a new fire pumper truck from Fouts Bros. for $409,285, breathing air-Paks and eight air cylinders for $42,020, and replacement police radios from Southern Line for $70,628.
City Manager Lanier Dunn presented vendor bids for the fire apparatus (Fouts Bros. $409,285; Safe Industries $499,266) and recommended the lower bid from Fouts Bros., financed with SPLOST funds. The breathing air equipment was bid at $42,020 and will be paid from the Royston Fire & Rescue Fund. The police radio package totaling $70,628 will be funded through a mix of Asset Forfeiture ($1,238.88), the Technology Fee Fund ($13,950.96), Franklin County SPLOST 5 ($5,341.93, which will close that fund) and Franklin County SPLOST 6 ($50,096.23).
Councilman Jason Phillips moved to approve the purchases; Councilman Matt Fields seconded and the motion passed 6-0. The record notes vendor names and bid amounts; the council did not record any public opposition during the meeting.
