The Board of Public Works voted to award the 2026 asphalt street resurfacing and utility improvements contract to the low bidder for $10,771,081.80.
Staff told the board the project drew three competitive bids and recommended moving forward with the base bid plus Alternate 1 and the utility repair alternate to the low bidder (Lalonde/Veil contractors). "The budget amount for this project is around $11,000,000 so this project came in under budget," staff said.
A committee member raised quality concerns based on earlier work on Silvernail Road; staff acknowledged prior quality issues are being addressed but said the resurfacing scope here involves removals, concrete work and standard paving operations. Staff identified Wolf Paving as the asphalt subcontractor.
A motion to accept the low bid was made and seconded. Chair called the vote; board members recorded ayes and the motion carried.
The project will proceed with the accepted alternates and staff said they will coordinate subcontracting and quality oversight during construction. The board did not set additional conditions during the vote.
