Sandersville council approves fertilizer contracts and donates surplus police Tasers

Sandersville, Feb. 17, 2026 — The Sandersville City Council voted unanimously Wednesday to award fertilizer and land-application contracts and to donate surplus police Tasers to a neighboring municipality.
Council Member Danny Brown moved to award the fertilizer and land-application contracts; Council Member Ben Salter seconded. The contract for the Helton sites was awarded to Smith Farm Supply for $14,105.50 and the Turner sites contract was awarded to Producers Ag for $59,090.80. The combined award totals $73,196.30. The motion passed unanimously.
Separately, Police Chief Vic Cuyler told the council the department has received new Tasers and recommended donating the current devices. Council Member Deborah Brown moved to approve Resolution #2026-02, declaring the identified police property surplus and authorizing donation to other government agencies; Mayor Pro Tem Jeffery Smith seconded. The resolution passed unanimously.
The council also approved the minutes from its Feb. 2 meeting at the start of Wednesday’s session. Mayor Jimmy Andrews opened the meeting and later thanked local fire departments after reporting two children recently died in a house fire.
The council adjourned with no further formal action on other agenda items.
