Public utilities chair Bill Devolve described a $19,462 request to replace impellers in a reuse-water pump at the wastewater plant to reduce wear and maintain operation; staff said the old impellers could be reworked later if demand increased.
Public works reported 641 chipping stops and 26.25 tons for May. Economic development staff announced the "Love is on the Clock" business-support initiative and upcoming events: Groovin on the Green on Friday, June 20 (7:30 p.m.) and the Independence celebration with fireworks and a kids zone at West Walton Park on Saturday, June 28.
City manager Danny said Waste Management proposed renewing the residential collection contract for five years and had offered, in writing, to hold residential rates for two years (no increase in the first two years). Danny cautioned that switching trash providers is a complex operational undertaking and that the city would consider options formally in July.
