Boone County commissioners approve routine claims, budget contract and county administrative actions

The Boone County Board of Commissioners on June 8 in Albion approved routine financial and administrative actions including vendor claims, a small transfer of accrued ARPA interest and a vendor contract to help prepare the county—s 2026-27 budget.
The board voted unanimously to transfer $1.18 in accrued interest from the Covid American Rescue Plan Fund (2580) to the General Fund (0100) under Resolution No. 2021-42. Commissioners also approved Accounts Payable claims across multiple funds, including General Fund claims totaling $282,888.93 and Road Fund claims totaling $250,916.64. The payroll claim for recently terminated employees (General gross $1,539.43; Road gross $2,649.26) was approved to allow timely processing outside the regular payroll cycle.
The board authorized the chairman to sign a budget-preparation agreement with Mueller & Honcik PC for approximately $4,850—$5,000. Commissioners reviewed proposed wage-increase calculations for the 2026-27 fiscal year and, after department-head discussion, voted to table the wage-increase matter until the June 15 meeting.
Two vendor-specific claim motions recorded an abstention by Commissioner Matt Niewohner. The motion approving payment to White Star Oil Company LLC (vendor #1806) carried with Yosten and Lindgren voting yea and Niewohner abstaining; a separate motion approving a Beaver Bearing Co. roads claim similarly recorded an abstention by Niewohner.
The board also declared the county—s 2020 Ford F-45 Demers ambulance surplus and approved advertising for sealed bids, with sealed bids to be accepted until 4:00 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 21, 2026 and opened on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026. (The meeting record contained a typographical year; the board—s timing was adjusted here to match the 2026 meeting year.)
Chairman Jon Lindgren adjourned the meeting at 1:25 p.m.; the next regular meeting is scheduled for June 15, 2026.
