The Lincoln County Board of Education recognized its 2025 district Teacher of the Year and approved routine consent items and personnel hires.
Principals introduced three school-level Teacher of the Year candidates: Mitch Matthews (high school), Joe Dukes (middle school) and Amanda Sandifer (elementary). The district award was given to Amanda Sandifer, who received applause from attendees.
Earlier in the meeting the chair brought forward the consent agenda, which included fundraisers and student trips. The chair asked for a motion; the board approved the consent items following a motion by Mr. Mongre and a second by Mr. Heyman, with the chair stating "all in favor." The chair clarified one trip date and confirmed that funding source wording would be corrected on the consent form.
After an executive-session break, the chair said the superintendent had recommended several hires and moved to approve them. The board approved the hiring of custodial substitutes Melissa Blackman and Roger Zelas and approved the substitute teachers as presented; the motion was seconded by Mr. Madison and the chair said "all in favor."
