Board updates parental-leave policy and clarifies no transportation for nonresident students

The Lincoln County Board of Education reviewed and approved updates to several district policies, including changes to parental leave and nonresident-enrollment transportation language.
A district staff member said the local parental-leave policy was updated after the state increased leave from 15 to 30 days effective July 1. The staff member told the board the change aligns local policy language with the Department of Education guidance.
On nonresident enrollment, staff said the district added a clear statement that "Transportation will not be provided by the Lincoln County School System outside or inside Lincoln County for nonresident students." The same sentence was added to the nonresident enrollment request form to ensure parents understand that the district will not provide bus transportation for students who live outside district boundaries.
Staff reported they reviewed the language with transportation director Fred Scott and another staff member, Miss Dorber, before recommending the updates. Board members agreed to the revisions as presented.
