The Kandiyohi City Council on Nov. 3 authorized the Kandiyohi Fire Department to add a utility box to Truck 4386 at a cost not to exceed $5,000 and designated Lleyton DeKraai as a full member of the department after completion of training and probation.
Council Member Scott McGillivray moved to authorize the utility box; Council Member Spencer Hunt seconded. The record states the motion carried with Council Member Toby Giese abstaining.
Later in the meeting Fire Chief Jamie Swanson and Captain Ben Egge reported that Lleyton DeKraai had completed all required training and the probationary period. Council Member Spencer Hunt moved to designate DeKraai a full member of the Kandiyohi Fire Department; Council Member Scott McGillivray seconded. The motion carried with Council Member Toby Giese again recorded as abstaining.
The record also shows the council and the fire chief gave the Kandiyohi Community Club permission to use the fire hall to prepare for Santa Night. The minutes do not record dissenting argument beyond the abstentions noted for the two motions.
