Resident tells committee golf balls are striking homes, urges mitigation and pond repairs

Tom, a Delaware River Drive resident, used the public‑comment period to describe repeated incidents in which golf balls from the course have landed on his property, struck vehicles and damaged a window, and once struck him in the chest.

"I got hit the other day in the chest...I've got dings on the side of my truck," Tom said, describing a loss of a tall pine‑tree buffer that previously reduced stray shots. He said his family no longer feels safe using their pool and that he has collected dozens of balls from his yard. Tom said he has discussed the issue with the township attorney and is seeking an agreeable mitigation that may include netting, planting trees or other measures.

Tom also said debris has accumulated in the retention pond behind his property, that material is clogging a township‑installed well filter on his property, and that the pond is a mosquito breeding area. "The debris shot in it. That also leaks into my well and it's clogging my filter...it's a mosquito haven," he said, and urged the committee and township to prioritize pond repairs and sealing.

Committee members acknowledged Tom's concerns and reminded him that the golf committee serves in an advisory capacity; they said they would forward ideas and the resident’s concerns to township staff and the Board of Supervisors for further action. Staff noted the township is aware of pond and capital needs and that Spirit had placed capital requests for pond work, but committee members did not commit to a specific remedy at the meeting.

The committee did not take formal action in response to Tom's comments. The resident said his attorney has been in touch with the township attorney; the committee said it will include the issue in communications to the township and Board of Supervisors.
