The Planning Board closed the public hearing for PB2508, a proposed sushi restaurant at 214 East Park Avenue, but left the record open for one week to allow staff to prepare a draft decision for the board’s May 21 meeting.
Applicant Shea Graham of Hudson Engineering said the proposal’s occupancy was reduced from 70 to 48 (including staff), and customer seating dropped from 63 to 38, which produced a required parking count of 13 under code formulas. Graham said ITE trip generation modeling shows fewer peak hour trips for the sushi restaurant than for the site’s prior deli use; consultant Michael Stein confirmed the technical approach. The applicant provided photographs and a map showing nearby on‑street spaces and a public parking garage and said it would install signage and update its website to direct patrons to rear access and the garage.
Staff recommended leaving the record open for seven days (until May 14) and preparing a draft decision for May 21; the board agreed. Staff also encouraged the applicant to signpost the rear entrance from the public garage so customers are aware of off‑street parking options.
