Lincoln Way 210 board upholds student suspension, approves expulsions and administrator contracts amid process concerns

The board upheld the suspension of student 2026-1 by roll call; the transcript shows six yes votes and one abstention (Board member Dedra Stokes abstained). The board then approved an expulsion agreement for student 2026-2; the motion passed by unanimous vote.
In personnel business the board approved a five-year contract for Dr. Mike Dubac to serve as deputy superintendent and then as superintendent beginning in the next superintendent term. During discussion, Board member Dedra Stokes said she would not support the motion because of concerns about the process used for such a senior hire, saying the district needed a transparent selection process and due diligence. Another board member also voiced similar process concerns during discussion. Despite those objections, the motion to approve Dr. Dubac's contract passed (the transcript records final unanimous passage on the vote call).
The board also approved a four-year retirement contract for Assistant Superintendent Dr. Brian Murphy and a four-year retirement contract for Assistant Superintendent Dr. Rene Goldie, and it approved annual contracts for district and school administrators; those motions passed by unanimous votes recorded in the transcript.
The board recorded roll-call votes for these actions as part of the meeting minutes and will implement the personnel contracts and administrative transitions in accordance with the approved agreements.
