Wyomissing Area SD board ratifies finance and personnel items, approves new clubs and stipends

The Wyomissing Area School District Board of School Directors approved a slate of routine and action items at its June meeting, including procurement for food-service equipment, personnel and stipend listings, and the addition of several co-curricular clubs.
On finance and facilities, administrators reported that two quotes to replace food-service equipment at West Reading Elementary Center and the junior/senior high came in below initial estimates. Combined pricing was presented as $98,793. The board moved, seconded and approved ratification of finance and facilities items numbers 1 through 7 by roll call; the motion passed 7'0'00.
The board then considered personnel and policy items, which included listing athletic coaches and club advisors (and their stipends) directly in the agenda for transparency. A motion to approve and ratify personnel and policy items numbers 1 through 8 was moved, seconded and approved by roll call, 7'0'00.
Administrators also outlined a formalized club-proposal process. Ten submissions yielded five proposals; four were recommended for district implementation next year: a Tinkercad club (grades 7''''12) focused on 3D design and related tools; a student-initiated Pickleball club; a Young Democrats Club (explicitly described as open to all political persuasions); and a Can Structure Club that partners with the Spartan Station and will coordinate food drives. The recommended advisor stipend for each new club is $576; if a club has two advisors the stipend would be split.
Board members also acknowledged extracurricular achievements and staffing additions: Wyomissing Area High School girls lacrosse finished runner-up in the state tournament, and the board introduced new staff and coaches joining the district: Alex Gawreluk (head e-sports coach), Aaron Antozzi (first-grade teacher at Wyomissing Hills Elementary Center) and Cesar Munoz (choral director and teacher of music).
Old business included an update on the Wyomissing playground: gates were adjusted in coordination with Wyomissing police and the board reported no further incidents since the changes. The West Reading Police Department is continuing an investigation into recent vandalism and has identified some potential suspects, the board was told. The meeting adjourned by voice vote.
