City liaison reports $4.75M bond for Vadnais Boulevard Trail; AFSA charter school to close

City Council Liaison Jozwowski told the Planning Commission on May 26 that the City has secured two significant funding awards for active‑transportation and conservation projects.
Jozwowski reported the City received a $4.75 million bond intended for the Vadnais Boulevard Trail and a separate $2.84 million grant from the Environmental and Natural Resources Trust Fund. "The City has received a $4.75 million bond for the Vadnais Boulevard Trail, and a $2.84 million grant for the Environmental and Natural Resources Trust Fund," Jozwowski said. The liaison also updated the Commission that the Greenhaven Street improvement project is underway and that the City recently recognized EMS and Public Works Week.
Planning/Community Development Director Nolan Wall added that the Vadnais Boulevard Trail is planned to run along the lakeside. Wall also told commissioners that AFSA, the local charter school, will close next school year and that the City does not yet know plans for the school's building. Wall said staff are monitoring long lines at the 7Brew coffee shop as additional locations open, calling the situation "a good problem to have."
