At the Feb. 17 meeting the Silver Creek Township Board confirmed that Johann Massmann accepted the clerk-treasurer position and has begun work.
The board approved a package of administrative actions: a motion carried 5-0 to have the interim clerk provide two weeks of hands-on training to Massmann and then be available by phone; a separate motion carried 5-0 to add Johann Massmann to the township bank account, remove Nancy B as a signer, and authorize the clerk to obtain a township credit card in accordance with the employee handbook.
On financial controls, the board discussed that the 2024 and 2025 CTAS accounting books had not been closed and that reports did not match audits. The minutes record an estimate from the discussion that hiring an accountant to close the books could cost approximately $350 per hour. Massmann will review the CTAS records and recommend action at the next meeting.
The administrative motions were recorded as carried; the minutes do not include copies of bank forms or the interim clerk’s identity beyond the reference that training will occur.
