Board approves landowner permit for Monticello Trailblazers snowmobile trail use

The Silver Creek Township Board of Supervisors voted unanimously on Feb. 17 to sign a landowner permit allowing the Monticello Trailblazers snowmobile association to use township right-of-way as shown on the current state snowmobile trail map.
Marty Posthumus, representing the Monticello Trailblazers, requested the township signature and the board discussed whether the state trail system’s insurance would cover use of the right-of-way. After brief discussion, Supervisors Andy Christensen and Brandon Geyen moved and seconded a motion to sign the landowner permit provided by the association; the motion passed 5-0.
The minutes record the board agreed to sign the permit; they do not include the signed document or any additional insurance language. The association or township staff will need to ensure the permit and insurance arrangements are finalized outside the meeting record.
