The Spirit Lake City Council unanimously approved routine business at its Sept. 10 meeting, including the minutes from Aug. 27, a bill list totaling $461,846.76, the Treasurer’s Report for August and several liquor licensing actions.
Councilmember Kofoot moved and Councilmember Mensing seconded to approve the minutes of the Aug. 27 regular meeting and to approve the bill list for September 2024; both motions carried unanimously. The itemized bill list included vendor payments such as HR GREEN INC for $83,916.00, MUESKE ELECTRIC INC. for $54,700.00, and Waste Management of WI-MN for $22,914.83, and listed a total of $461,846.76.
The council also approved the Treasurer’s Report for August, which showed revenues including General Fund $178,808.97; Local Option Sales Tax $195,426.09; Water $222,768.84; and expenditures including General Fund $540,500.15 and Water Plant Upgrade $362,275.23. Councilmember Kofoot moved and Councilmember Mensing seconded approval of the Treasurer’s Report; the motion carried unanimously.
On liquor licensing, the council approved a Class C Retail Alcohol License for El Mariachi Bar & Grill; Special Class C Retail Alcohol Licenses for Lagniappe Tea Room and Top of Iowa Lucky Wife; and an amendment to unlicense Okoboji’s Blue Water Java & Pancake House. That motion was also moved by Councilmember Kofoot and seconded by Councilmember Mensing and carried unanimously.
The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn by Councilmember Chappas, seconded by Councilmember Johnson, which carried unanimously. The meeting minutes do not record extended debate or public comment on these items.
