Cushing selectmen approve road, salt-shed and septic contracts and renew financial policy

The Town of Cushing Board of Selectmen met June 23, 2014, at the Cushing Community Center and recorded a series of unanimous votes to approve municipal contracts and update financial policy.
The Board voted to approve Warrant #27 and Warrant #28 after a motion by Selectman Daniel Staples, seconded by Selectman Laurie Haynes. The motion carried 4-0-0.
Selectman Daniel Staples moved, and Selectman Laurie Haynes seconded, to accept the minutes of the June 9, 2014 meeting as amended; that motion also carried 4-0-0.
On bids for road and salt-shed repairs, Chairman Alton Grover presented three estimates. The Board accepted J.A. Gilbert & Son's bids—$2,900 to repair Hathorne Point Road and $2,500 to repair the entrance to the town's salt shed—on a motion by Selectman Laurie Haynes, seconded by Selectman Robert Worthing; carried 4-0-0.
Selectman Daniel Staples reported on the town's Check Disbursement Policy after attending a municipal officers workshop with Chairman Grover. The Board voted to accept the policy for 2014 and separately voted to renew the Check Disbursement Policy annually at the first Selectmen meeting after Town Meeting. Both motions passed 4-0-0.
The Board opened bids for an open septic system and accepted Doug Fales's bid of $9,000 with an additional $2,500 if a pump station is required; the motion was made by Selectman Daniel Staples and seconded by Selectman Laurie Haynes and carried 4-0-0.
The meeting ended with an adjournment motion by Selectman Robert Worthing, seconded by Selectman Daniel Staples; the motion carried 4-0-0 and the meeting adjourned at 6:53 p.m.
