Morris Area Public Schools Board approves policy updates, athletics sponsorship changes and service agreements in unanimous vote

The Morris Area Public Schools Board met Oct. 20, 2025, and unanimously approved a slate of policy updates, athletics sponsorship actions and service agreements, according to the board minutes.
The board approved the second and final readings of district policies #516.5 (Overdose Medication), #607 (Organization of Grade Levels), #608 (Instructional Services — Special Education), #609 (Religion and Religious and Cultural Observances), #610 (Field Trips) and #611 (Home Schooling). The motion to adopt the second readings was made by Vice Chair Jennifer Goodnough and seconded by Treasurer Kurt Wulf; the minutes record the vote as carried, 7-0.
The board also approved a Resolution for Acceptance of Gifts (motion by Director Trevor Seales, second by Clerk Renee Konz), with a roll-call recorded in the minutes showing all members voting in the affirmative: Matt Johnson, Kurt Wulf, Trevor Seales, Miguel Urrutia Calvo, Jennifer Goodnough, Renee Konz and Steve Just.
During approval of the consent agenda, Vice Chair Jennifer Goodnough moved and Treasurer Kurt Wulf seconded a motion to approve the consent agenda with an adjustment related to winter coaches and acceptance of a resignation from the Robotics program; that motion carried 7-0.
On athletics, the board approved Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) actions to dissolve and then reapply for cooperative sponsorship for girls hockey (motions by Trevor Seales) and separately approved dissolution and application for boys hockey (motions by Kurt Wulf); each motion carried unanimously.
The board approved a Professional Services Agreement between Morris Area Schools and the Regional Fitness Center (motion by Steve Just, second by Kurt Wulf) and adopted a Resolution supporting Form A and Form B applications to the Minnesota State High School League Foundation (motion by Jennifer Goodnough, second by Renee Konz). Both motions carried 7-0. The board then moved to adjourn; the meeting ended at 6:50 p.m.
