Steamboat Rock council approves loan for street and roof repairs; street work delayed until spring

The Steamboat Rock City Council on Oct. 13 approved a loan from Green Belt Bank & Trust to fund repairs to city streets and the municipal roof.
The motion to accept the loan was made by Travis Hollander and seconded by Cory Schurman; roll-call votes recorded Marvin Veld, Travis Hollander, Kevin Pieters and Cory Schurman voting yes and the motion carried.
City Clerk Valeria Kjormoe told the council, at the mayor’s request, that the street repair project must be postponed until spring because of weather conditions. She said the roof project is still scheduled to be completed this fall.
Council members discussed financing options and then approved the bank loan so work and associated contracts can proceed once weather and schedules permit. A loan fee to Green Belt Bank & Trust appears on the bills list included with the meeting materials.
The council took the loan vote alongside other routine business and adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
