Planning Commission sets Dec. 15 hearing to consider amending Johnny Mold conditional use permit

The Harris Planning Commission voted Nov. 24 to schedule a public hearing for Dec. 15, 2025, on a proposed amendment to Conditional Use Permit 2019‑06 that would allow both existing accessory storage buildings and mini storage rental on a single property owned by Johnny Mold.
City staff said Mold’s septic system has been installed and is “100% complete” according to county requirements, but County Environmental Inspector Dan Cahill told the commission he is still awaiting the as‑built documentation required before the county can issue final approval. City Clerk Shannon Geier advised the commission that the project may proceed locally with county clearance to follow.
Commissioner Al Siedow moved to schedule the public hearing; Commissioner Tina Kolodziej seconded and the motion carried with all members present voting in favor. The buildings on the property are currently unoccupied and no certificate of occupancy has been issued, staff said.
Geier said the hearing will be announced in the local newspaper and that letters will be mailed to neighboring property owners to notify them of the proposal and hearing date.
The commission did not take a final land‑use action on the CUP amendment at the Nov. 24 meeting; the matter will return for public comment and a formal decision at the Dec. 15 hearing.
