At its June 24 meeting the Environmental Advisory Committee reviewed a proposal to install a new utility pole with a collocated small wireless facility adjacent to Duke Road near Walden Avenue.
Mister Lusk, representing the applicant, described the installation as a roughly 2‑foot antenna atop a new utility pole and said the design includes an equipment cabinet with the bottom of the radio equipment about 10 feet above grade and a meter box about 5–6 feet high. "We're gonna be putting it on the new utility pole," Mister Lusk said, noting the work would be aerial and not ground‑mounted.
A committee member raised a potential conflict with a nearby storm catch basin and questioned whether pole foundations could interfere with subsurface infrastructure; an engineering representative, Drew from the engineering department, offered to review GIS data to confirm the location. Committee members also asked whether the installation would affect sidewalk width and ADA compliance; the applicant said Verizon typically avoids conflicts with ADA sidewalks.
A staff speaker noted Erie County provided "no recommendation of local concern" on the project. Following discussion, the committee recorded a positive voice vote on the item and indicated no further EAC objection at this time; members asked the applicant and town staff to coordinate on final placement to avoid utility and sidewalk conflicts.
The committee asked the applicant to follow up on precise underground utility locates, confirm flood‑zone mapping and finalize the pole location before construction.
