The Camas School District Board recessed its regular meeting for a public hearing on the proposed sale of surplus real property — described in the hearing as Lot 7, Block 6 (Clark County tax parcel 076800000) and identified in board materials as a house behind the Safeway formerly used by the district’s transition program — and received no public testimony.
“Per RCW 28A.335.123, the district published a notice of the desire and intent to sell surplus real property,” the chair said when opening the hearing, reading the parcel description and the published notice period. After inviting public comment, the chair closed the hearing when no one came forward.
Later in the meeting the board acted on a purchase‑and‑sale matter related to the Karcher property. The board moved to approve an extension of the Ginn Group purchase‑and‑sale agreement for the Karcher property (the precise financial terms and payment schedule were addressed in the board packet). A board member clarified the contract shows "nothing to be paid" at present and the motion was amended and approved by voice vote.
Board materials and the superintendent’s remarks also noted that anticipated proceeds from the Karcher sale and the transition‑house sale are included in the capital projects fund budget and could be used to support priority capital projects if realized.
No public speaker objected or offered comment during the public hearing; the board will proceed with the contract extension and can return to any final sale approval steps if required by RCW procedures.
Next procedural steps: the district will continue with closing and capital‑fund planning consistent with board direction and statutory notification requirements.
