The Petersburg board reviewed a range of property maintenance and small capital items, including a reported tuckpointing bid for a building owner, trail cleanup needs, and scheduled park work.
Kim reported that Amanda has solicited quotes for tuckpointing; the first bid came in at $40,000 for front and back (no sides). Members discussed phasing the work, addressing the worst sections first and whether pigeon remediation costs could be included in the scope. Board members suggested the owner consider partial work if needed and to pursue additional quotes.
The board also talked about a corner storefront where a nurse practitioner might reopen an office; members urged property repairs (windows and pigeon remediation) so the space can be occupied. Grant programs were discussed: the READY grant rounds are currently closed, IEDC was identified as the umbrella agency for some grants, and the art federation and United Methodist Church were noted as potential partners for related projects.
For town-maintained assets, staff reported shade sails are scheduled for the amphitheater (deposit paid), after which landscaping plans will be finalized. Members also discussed trimming and mowing an overgrown trail, checking light poles, and assigning electric staff (Jesse) to inspect and trim vegetation. The board asked summer help to prioritize painting and small maintenance tasks in parks.
Next steps: Amanda to obtain more quotes and owners to pursue phased repairs; staff to coordinate trail cleanup, light checks and landscaping after shade-sail installation.
