Stanwood — The Stanwood City Council approved a contract with design firm Martin Gardner for the Stanwood Public Library expansion during a special meeting on June 12, 2025.
The contract passed on a motion by Councilor Deppe, seconded by Councilor Siebels, with all members present voting aye. Megan Mallie, the library director, participated by phone at the special session and will lead library-side planning once the firm receives the signed agreement.
The contract authorization allows Martin Gardner to begin programming and schematic design in coordination with library staff. Council minutes say the library will meet with Martin Gardner to define what it wants and to develop the budget for the project after the contract is executed.
No dollar figure for the design contract or an estimated total construction cost was recorded in the minutes. The council approved the contract as a single formal action at the June 12 meeting; additional approvals for funding or construction would appear on future agendas.
The special meeting record shows no public objections were raised during the session. The next procedural steps reported were contract execution and a library-led scoping meeting with the design firm.
