Council member and KCED Director Iosbaker told the council that KCED recently submitted a BOOST grant application and that awards are expected on Oct. 1. He said several groups collaborated on the application and that the city was a participating partner.
Iosbaker suggested tabling decisions on the strategic planning committee until after the BOOST award is announced or holding a joint meeting to combine strategic planning and the budget process so council members can align on priorities. He said the approach would allow members to surface projects they want the city to consider for future work.
Iosbaker also reported that KCED is selling raffle tickets for a November event in Hedrick, that a local daycare initiative is making progress, and that the KCED website is nearly ready to open to the public.
No formal council action on strategic planning or the BOOST application was taken at the Sept. 4 meeting.
