Robotics, Trig‑Star sweep and large tree‑planting among highlights at Moose Lake board meeting

At the May 18 meeting, the Moose Lake School Board heard several presentations and program reports celebrating student accomplishments and extracurricular activity.
Jessica Langhorst and the district Robotics team showcased recent projects and presented 3D‑printed “Moose” models to board members. Academic staff credited coach efforts and students for sweeping the TRIG‑STAR regional competition, winning the inaugural team championship trophy and placing first through third individually (Willard Wasche, Matthew Bohnsack, Mason Spaulding).
The high school Science Department reported a tree‑planting project that added approximately 500 trees to the school forest, including tamarack, spruce, red pine, hackberry and swamp white oak; seventh‑ and eighth‑grade STEM students also planted about 100 sugar maples in a protected plot intended for future syrup production and hands‑on learning. The district said the sugar maple area will be maintained to improve survival rates.
Other program highlights included music department concerts, Key Club clothing drives supporting a student clothing closet, the Early Childhood Celebration and multiple end‑of‑year events for graduates and younger students.
Board members publicly thanked teachers, coaches and volunteers for their roles in these programs.
