Moose Lake School Board formally calls Nov. 3 election to fill three seats; details for ballots and notices set

The Moose Lake School Board voted unanimously on May 18 to call the district general election for Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026, to elect three school board members to four‑year terms. Member Julie Peterson introduced the resolution, which the board adopted after a second by Lisa Anderson‑Reed.

Under the resolution, the clerk is directed to include on the ballot the names of those who file affidavits of candidacy and to exclude those who file timely affidavits of withdrawal. The board authorized the clerk to provide written notice to county auditors at least 53 days before the election, to post notice at district administrative offices at least 10 days prior and to publish notice in the district’s official newspaper for two consecutive weeks with the final publication at least one week before the election.

The resolution also directs that a sample ballot be posted at administrative offices at least four days before Election Day and in each polling place on that date, and specifies that the sample ballot must not be printed on the same color paper as the official ballot. Ballot instructions will direct voters to “vote for up to three” school board candidates for Independent School District No. 97 (Moose Lake).

The board directed the clerk and administration to cooperate with county election officials on ballot preparation, election administration and cost‑sharing arrangements, and to use judges designated for the state general election as election judges for the district contest. The resolution cites Minnesota Statutes §205A.11 for precinct and polling‑place procedures within the district.

On a roll‑call vote the following members recorded yes: Jim Gerdes, Brenda Heikkila, Paul Olson, Julie Peterson, Ben Anderson and Lisa Anderson‑Reed. No members voted against the resolution.
