The Thompson Planning & Zoning Commission on June 22 approved a string of routine permit renewals, removed a previously issued cease-and-desist order for a longstanding pit and scheduled several applications for public hearings in July.
The commission voted to renew gravel-operation permits for PZC26-06 (JJS Construction, 1574 Riverside Drive) and PZC26-18 (Strategic Commercial Realty / Ross Imperial) for the 12-month period June 22, 2026–June 22, 2027, after commissioners noted site photographs and wetlands documentation in the meeting packet. Members also approved PZC26-20 (David Coleman) and amended that motion to waive the application fee for the renewal.
Why it matters: Renewals keep active—and some dormant—extraction and storage sites operating under the town’s regulatory oversight. Commissioners flagged wetlands information and emphasized continuing monitoring of site conditions.
Votes at a glance: - PZC26-06 (JJS Construction, gravel renewal): approved (voice vote). - PZC26-18 (Strategic Commercial Realty / Ross Imperial, gravel renewal): approved (voice vote). - PZC26-20 (David Coleman, inactive gravel renewal): approved with waiver of application fee (motion amended and carried; one recorded no). - PZC26-17 (Joseph Langlo, two-lot resubdivision): accepted for public hearing July 27, 2026. - PZC26-19 (Jennifer Tubsbury, special permit for country inn): accepted for public hearing July 27, 2026. - PZC26-21 (72 Main Street storage facility expansion/Zach Levante): accepted for public hearing July 27, 2026.
Commissioners said the renewals were supported by photographs and site reports included in the packet. The chair and staff noted that several of the gravel sites are currently inactive and that wetlands staff had reviewed documentation where applicable.
Next steps: Each application accepted for public hearing will return to the commission with formal notice and materials for public comment. The next regular meeting is scheduled for July 27, 2026.
