- Marion Park site improvements: Applicants (Five Point Engineering; First Resource Development Company) proposed landscaping, spray irrigation, benches, post-and-chain fencing, new signage, a water meter and lighting/power to the site. The commission conditioned its approval on applicants obtaining a conservator quote for statue cleaning/repointing and coordinating maintenance with parks staff; commissioners voted to approve the application.
- 122 Chestnut Street (three sign replacements): Applicant Mass Signs and a property representative presented three aluminum signs to be replaced with the same dimensions and similar color scheme (dark blue, tan, white). Commissioners asked about dimensions and materials and approved the replacements.
- 179 Thompson Street (seven window replacements): The online applicants proposed replacing seven deteriorated one-over-one wooden windows with Window World 4000 series black double-hung vinyl windows (no grids); commissioners requested a sash-profile photo for the file and approved the application as presented.
- 218 Sumner Avenue (roof replacement): Applicant sought to replace a failing slate roof with GAF HDZ architectural asphalt shingles; contractors explained slate salvage and flashing replacement. Nearby residents spoke in favor citing interior leaks. The commission approved the roof replacement and asked the owner to provide required certificates to the town.
Voting notes and motions
Motions to approve the several applications were made, seconded and carried by voice vote; where roll-call confirmations were recorded they show unanimous affirmative votes in those recorded tallies. In the Marion Park case, commissioners added a direction to obtain a conservator quote for the statue as part of implementation.
What’s next
Staff will file the approvals and (for projects requiring documentation) will collect required certificates and conservator quotes. The commission invited applicants to coordinate maintenance plans with the parks department.
