Parks staff updated the Tracy City Council on Sept. 9 that the community has raised roughly $120,000 toward a roughly $180,000 goal to purchase playground equipment before a supplier’s 50% promotional discount expires Sept. 29.
Staff said the $180,000 estimate includes about $20,000 for shipping and that the city has already appropriated about $40,000 toward the project. "We want to be able to take advantage of this 50% off as much as we can," the parks presenter said. Council members and staff discussed logistics and alternative shipping options to reduce costs and noted donors can give online, by phone or by mail.
Council did not take separate action beyond thanking donors and confirming that the project remains on the city's priority list; staff will continue fundraising and return to Council with procurement steps once ordering details are final.
