Council approved a listing contract with Castle Realty to market previously declared surplus properties, including parcels on Marion Street, Houston Street and Green Street. The motion to approve the contract was moved by Councilmember Jeff (first spoken appearance SEG 041) and seconded; discussion focused on an MLS/multiple-listing question and commission arrangements. The council then adopted Resolution 2026-09 declaring specified city vehicles surplus and authorizing their sale; the resolution text cited the RCW reference read aloud during the meeting as "RCW 35ADot11Dot010." The resolution passed by voice vote.
Clerk/Treasurer Nancy told the council CivicPlus has issued a mandatory upgrade for the city’s website and that the company also offers an integrated recreation-and-facility-rental platform the city is considering for pool and program payments. "It's a requirement for us," Nancy said, describing three quotes attached to the proposal. Council voted to authorize the mayor to sign the CivicPlus contracts.
Perry Shea, a manager and developer involved with the Ag Park, presented the sign plan and said his team would fund and operate the device, including power costs. "There’s no cost at all to the city. Nothing," Perry said, describing a plan for a small, 8-by-4-foot variable-message monument sign and a content-management team drawn from park managers and tenant partners. Council moved and approved the sign design, with members noting that access and content guidelines would be worked out under the park covenants.
The consent calendar, approved earlier in the meeting, listed payroll EFTs of $58,225.13 and claims/EFTs of $106,727.99 for a total of $164,953.12. Clerk/Treasurer Nancy also said a public hearing on a budget amendment is scheduled for July 14, with final approval slated for July 28.
What’s next: The CivicPlus contracts require the mayor’s signature to take effect; staff will proceed with listing surplus parcels under the Castle Realty agreement and coordinate details for disposal of the surplus vehicles. The developer and city staff will finalize message controls and operational access for the Ag Park sign under existing covenants.
