Selectboard approves $177,200 pickleball-courts contract; authorizes civil-forfeiture letters and other routine business

At its June 22 meeting the Goffstown Selectboard approved a series of routine but substantive administrative items: awarding a contract for new pickleball courts, authorizing civil-forfeiture notices for unregistered dogs, and approving consent-agenda personnel actions and IT contract renewals.

Parks and Recreation staff reported six bids for the town’s planned pickleball courts. The lowest responsive bid came from Vermont Recreational Surfacing & Fencing, at $177,200. The Parks director recommended awarding the contract and funding it with $130,000 in impact-fee money and the remainder from the revolving fund. Selectboard member Josh moved to authorize the director to contract with Vermont Recreational Surfacing & Fencing for $177,200; Richard seconded and the motion passed by voice vote.

On animal-control enforcement, staff reported 179 unregistered dogs from 139 households. The board authorized the town clerk and police chief to issue civil forfeiture letters, including a $5 administrative fee per household, to be delivered via first-class mail.

On the consent agenda, the board approved personnel items (promotions, hires and seasonal staff), reappointments (trustees of the trust fund and a library trustee alternate), a junkyard license, and authorization for the information-systems director to sign multi-year IT agreements (SolarWinds and FirstLight dark-fiber services). The board also reviewed a library elevator repair request and agreed to wait for the Q2 budget report before deciding on funding sources; staff noted part of the repair cost is already paid and that trustees will be asked for reimbursement where appropriate.

The board closed public comment with no speakers and adjourned the meeting.
