Board projects year-end surplus, approves budget amendment and routine items

Mrs. Hooper, presenting the financial update, said the district was at roughly 96% of expected revenue as of June 15 before moving reserves into the calculation and projected receipt of about $1,200,000 in state aid over the summer and into September. "We still will receive around 1,200,000 in state aid," she said, adding that once reserves are properly applied the district expects a year-end surplus and will not need to use the entire $3,850,000 in appropriated reserves.
Board members considered a proposed budget amendment intended to protect reserve balances. Mrs. Hooper explained the amendment also makes a technical transfer from the debt-service account to cover interest costs, saying the district identified $164,000 in interest that could be covered by a debt-service transfer. "We're able to transfer some money in from the debt service account to cover this, 164,000 in interest," she said.

Mrs. Hooper said the district will work with auditors after books close on June 30 to finalize the year-end position and determine specifically how much of the reserves will be restored to fund-balance accounts. "We'll update everyone as we end the year, close the books, speak with the auditors exactly where we land," she said.
The board’s votes were routine and unanimous; no roll-call vote-by-name was recorded in the transcript beyond the voice tallies. The board adjourned later in the meeting after a standard board-forum discussion and brief closing remarks.
