Sigourney council approves phone-service switch, accepts sealed-bid plan and adopts reports

Council approved switching municipal phone/data service to US Cellular for a single city phone and iPad, authorized accepting sealed bids for a skid-loader sweeper attachment with a $2,000 minimum, tabled a Visitors Guide contract, and approved the Annual Urban Renewal report and Iowa DOT street/finance report with Resolution 2024-11-35.
City Clerk Ashley Fry told the council the existing Verizon service was dropping calls and recommended switching to US Cellular to provide one city phone and one iPad for Code Enforcement Officer Doug Glandon so staff calls come from a city number rather than a personal line. Council approved the US Cellular quote 5–0.
On equipment, Public Works Director Don Northup requested the council accept sealed bids for a rarely used skid-loader sweeper attachment purchased circa 2008–2010, with a minimum bid of $2,000; the council approved accepting sealed bids with that minimum. The council also tabled action on a Visitors Guide contract with the Sigourney News Review pending more information from the city clerk.
City Clerk Fry presented and the council approved the Annual Urban Renewal FY2023-2024 report. The council also approved the FY 2024 Iowa Department of Transportation Street and Finance Report and adopted Resolution 2024-11-35 to accompany that report. The minutes record unanimous votes (5–0) on these administrative items. The council set its next meeting for Nov. 20 at 6:00 p.m.
